Swami Vivekananda quote

The less passion there is, the better we work. The calmer we are the better for us and the more the amount of work we can do. When we let loose our feelings, we waste so much energy, shatter our nerves, disturb our minds, and accomplish very little work. ” – Swami Vivekananda

A web feed (or news ) is a data format which helps you to track news and huge number of blogs through a feed reader like Google Reader. A web feed may be available in many formats such as RSS, Atom etc but they all do the same thing.

The photo above shows the icon/symbol which is used to represent feeds on any website, blog etc. It can come in slight variations too as you can see on the right side of this blog.

If you are new to the concept of RSS feeds ,watch this excellent
video, explaining it in plain English .

When Rahul gandhi met Kalavati

It is said that "A Picture Speaks a Thousand Words".

rahul gandhi kalavati

Rahul gandhi spoke about Kalavati in parliament and many Indians got a new hero and future leader of India. After all which politician would stay in a poor woman's house for 1 full day and promise her help to solve her problems. And what does he get in return? NOTHING! (If you leave aside the front page coverage by print media and many hours of prime time on news channels which would eventually transform into votes.)

The latest update is that Rahul gandhi didnt keep his promises and Kalavati didnt get a single penny for help. Elections are over and Kalavati was turned away when he tried to approach Rahul gandhi in delhi to remind him of his promise. [1]

Though her life has improved now because of the help by social workers, NGOs and the common man which doesnt look for publicity while helping. [2]

Who is a HINDU?

who is Hindu A wonderful article I came across in Times of India. It pretty much answers everything.

========================

Young people today engaged in self-exploration are looking for inner peace. They question the relevance of rituals and religious practices.

Religion needs to be reinterpreted to suit the context of modern times; otherwise today's youth might lose faith in Sanatana Dharma - the timeless faith.

The hallmark of Hindu tradition has been its great capacity to adapt itself to the lifestyles of people without losing its identity, and helping seekers focus on attaining the transcendent absolute.

One may ask, who then is a true Hindu? A real Hindu is one who searches for the Ultimate Truth and relentlessly pursues answers to questions such as, 'Who is God? Who am i? What is my purpose? How to know God? What is the Ultimate Truth?'

A true Hindu firmly believes in allowing every human being to search for God in his or her own way; to freely experiment with various practices and rituals to suit one's personal needs and temperament.

The inquiry into the nature of God and self, and the practices thereof could be termed as the Hindu way of life. The ultimate aim of a Hindu is God-realisation through the spiritual practices he adopts. It is a way of life which respects and accepts all paths to self-realisation.

What is commonly referred to as Hinduism is the collective wisdom of many great seers and sages as opposed to the teachings of a single teacher. It is more a group of faiths, somewhat connected by a set of scriptures and a pantheon. Hinduism has no universally accepted scriptural doctrine or uniformity of worship and it is impossible to define in a set of parameters, having no common practices, rites or rituals. Unlike many other faiths, Hinduism refuses to sanction the monopoly of one God, one spiritual practice, or one scripture as the One and Only way to liberation.

Hinduism is based upon the qualities of acceptance, absorption, continuous change and expansion. It is thus a dynamic, living, ever-growing set of ideas, rituals and spiritual practices. It incorporates constant acceptance and freedom of thought for all other Religions of the World.

One cannot be 'converted' to Hinduism. For every other religion, there are 'rites of baptism'. Hindus consider that everyone is naturally on a journey to reach a higher awareness through the cycle of birth and death; and that the soul continuously reincarnates to experience Karmas - the effects of actions performed in earlier incarnations. This is something automatic.
In a way, everyone who is trying to explore their divinity is practising Hinduism.

Hinduism is a way of life and does not conflict with any religion for it is simply the commitment to search for the truth. One does not have to give up one's religious identity to follow Hindu practices.

The greatness of Hinduism lies in its infinite capacity of acceptance and allowance. As long as an individual is mindful of 'raising consciousness' - of self, community, and humanity as a whole, one is following tenets of Hindu religion.

This has been termed as 'Shreya' - the essence of the Hindu way of life, in a single word.

Blood emergency
Few months ago I was browsing some forums when I saw a topic created by someone who needed blood for her friend's mom and it was EMERGENCY. Since the blood group was o -ve which is very rare blood wasnt available so she was looking for some help and donors. I started my search looking for donors and in the end could provide her a list of many potential donors. So I would like to share the process here that how you can find blood donors during emergency incase the need arise so that it maybe helpful for someone in future.

1.) http://www.friendstosupport.org/index.aspx - This is a great website where a database is created of volunteers. You can search for donors by blood group, state, city etc. post requests and can have a look at important information. Just check out the website.

2.) http://indianblooddonors.in/ - Same as above.

3.) Social networking websites- Search for a particular blood group on these websites and you will find many communities/groups already existing. Join them and start scanning the forums. Most of the times you will find a database of volunteers or their contact details. Otherwise you can contact them through scraps, messages etc.

4.) Google- It is probably the best place to look for anything. If you know googling you can find many volunteers. Just do a google search with some query like "list of blood donors in XXX" (xxx is name of city) or "blood group donor city" and you can find many results. Google is the last alternative if you cant find donors through 1st two methods.

Great after sale service by Pizza Hut

pizza hut experience I had been a regular to Pizza hut until I came across Dominoes Cheese Burst pizza which is something completely different and out of this world. But still my love for Pizza hut's Veggie Lovers pizza hasnt changed and with Pizza hut launching their new "Cheezy bites" pizza I thought it would give strong comparison to Dominoes cheese burst and decided to try the same.

So yesterday I ordered 1 veggie lover and 1 Cheesy bite pizza from Pizza hut. While veggie lover was good as usual I was surprised to find NO CHEESE in so called "cheesy bites". Unhappy over this I left a negative feedback on their website
http://www.pizzahut.co.in/ .

They had asked for the contact details so I was expecting a call from them today. Around 5 pm I got a call and the person apologised and asked in detail about the complaint. Then he offered a free pizza so that I can check whether it was just one time mistake. So I got the pizza at around 9:30 pm and I have to say that though the quality was better it was a little below from what I had expected. But I was really happy by the gesture shown by their staff as they accepted the mistake and tried to rectify it. The manager again called to know about my experience and I said that though the quality could have been better I really appreciated the gesture shown by them.

So I may not try their Cheesy bite pizza the next time but I will surely visit and would recommend everyone to visit there because you can be sure that if anything is not satisfactory in service you have people and a company who is willing to listen and improve their service so that the customers get the best!!
